The RICH Principles [Podcast]

Episode 2: The Four RICH Principles

So, what does it mean to redefine rich?

As I poured over the words the nurse said to my Aunt Trish, “You make my life rich,” I felt called to define that statement and that word: rich.

Can we classify a rich life?

I believe so.

In this episode, I tell the story of how the four principles of richness came to life.

Growing up as a musician, I used memory tools to capture the music scale, chord charts, and lyrics in my mind. If you’ve ever taken music lessons, surely the phrase, “Every Good Boy Does Fine,” sticks with you.

Similarly, I saw four characteristics of a rich life that fit within the letters of the word, rich.

R: Recognize you’re broke(n)

A rich life begins with the understanding that something is broken. As I write, “the condition of brokenness is the only quality that allows for healing to begin.” I began understanding this when my son broke his arm.

I: Invest in Others

In a financial sense, wealth is built when we invest. In its broader sense, richness is meant to pour over into others; a generous spirit. Additionally, a rich life is compounded by what or who we allow to invest in us.

C: Choose Gratitude

Gratitude is the currency of the heart. I learned how to harness this principle by misspelling the word grateful – GREATFULL. True greatness awaits when we learn how to embrace gratitude.

H: Humble Yourself With Confidence

The world would tell you that confidence and humility are independent of each other; you must have one or the other. On the contrary, I believe we must understand how to walk the line between the two on our road to richness.

Stay tuned next week as we talk with business and life coach Chris LoCurto on an all new segment called the Live Richly Spotlight.

For this week, answer this question:

Which principle is your favorite?

MH

If you would do me a HUGE favor! iTunes has a segment called "New and Noteworthy" for new podcasts and I would LOVE to crack into their list. But here's the thing...I need your help.

If you could leave a rating on iTunes and share this with friends, it really helps the visibility so that more people can be a part of this movement.

Gratefully,

Matt

Hi Matt, you really made me think about Humble yourself with Confidence. – To me it ties back to remember you are broken. – My confidence comes from Jesus living in me. I am by no means perfect, but I do much better when find a way to humble myself and fully rely on him.

That’s awesome Jon! And you’re absolutely right; you’re way ahead of me 😉

The principles ARE, in fact, cyclical. The humility leads bcak to the top which is how I teach it in life coaching.

Thanks for listening AND taking the time to contribute!

Great episode. It’s hard to pick one because they are all important, in my opinion. However, I like Humble yourself with confidence a lot. Too many people feel God asking them to do something, but then continue to question themselves and not walk forward with confidence. Keep up the great work!

Tammy – you’ve been such a great encourager on this journey, thus building my confidence.

This principle is so key and, you might be surprised, it’s the one most people admit to needing.

Thanks for being a part of this!
