On today’s episode we talk about a dangerous word that pervades our culture; the word, can’t.
This contraction is often used in response to our hopes and dreams and it destroys them. Unfortunately, we give this phrase the power to change the way we think about possibility. It’s true that, over time, we begin to believe what we hear; so, if we’re hearing the word, can’t, it’s very likely that we will start to believe it.
Many of us think that our stories or our dreams aren’t important. Nothing could be further from the truth.
History shows us that we must learn to abolish can’t:
- The founding of America
- The Wright Brothers and airline travel
- SCUBA diving and underwater exploration
- Space Travel
Somewhere along the way, these pioneers forbid themselves to believe the word can’t.
Instead of using the word can’t, I challenge listeners to turn it into the phrase: Can I?
A positive question inspires hope and moves us to take action.
I learned this from my boys: Matthew (4), Wyatt (2), and Greyson (2). Their world is possibility waiting to happen because the phrase Can I? rules their mind. This phrase pushes them to explore new things.
The beauty when Can I? become I Can! is such an empowering experience creating confidence and hope.
In regards to redefining what it means to be rich, begin asking yourself:
“Can I live a rich life?”
QUESTION: Where are you telling yourself, I can’t?
On the next episode, I’ll be interviewing business and life coach, former Dave Ramsey VP, Chris LoCurto. You won’t want to miss it!
